There must have been a reason why the Lord stood by that morning As many died so needlessly without a word of warning. With no effort on His part He could have turned those planes around And gently set them safely once again upon the ground. But instead He let it happen and we cannot comprehend Why He didn't intervene and His host of angels send To rescue all the passengers so brave as they met death And all the other victims as they took their final breath. He had to know the horror that our nation would be feeling The disbelief and heartache with which we would be dealing. He knew that there'd be sadness for the ones left behind... Their loved ones, many whom He knew that they would never find. God allowed this tragedy to occur in spite of this, Knowing hearts would break and hurt as the families, they would miss The ones who meant the most to them, there was nothing they could do... God could have saved them all, but instead saved just a few. The God we know and love - to whom we send our prayers Has always been the one to be in charge of these affairs. Throughout our lives there's many other times when things have gone Not the way we wished but we accepted and moved on. And though this time is different - it's magnitude so great... There must have been a reason - so much more than only fate For the lives that were lost on the eleventh of September, A morning that forever in our hearts we will remember. The Lord is so much wiser than we ever hope to be; There must have been a reason that I'm sure one day we'll see. Until that time we must not lose our faith or doubt His will; We have to keep believing for, our God, we need Him still. author JB (Please do not use this poem without permission.)
