Hello! Welcome to our little space on the web reserved for our visitors who are looking for a nice quiet place to come and chat with their friends (or meet new ones).
Our community chat area is called Friendship Way and everyone is welcome to post messages and participate in the chat room. To post messages you do not have to register, to chat you will have to register. This may or may not remain the way we will keep things set up. Our thinking is that by requiring you to register (create a user name and password) that hopefully our community will be the kind of place you would feel comfortable about coming to chat with your friends (or meet new ones). Of course, this is the internet and there will always be ways for some people to disrupt things if they really try hard enough. As time goes by we will see how things go and whether any changes need to be made. Also, remember - this is your community so you will always be heard if there is a problem or something that we can help you with.
Here are a few tips in using this area...
1. To post a message just click on the words "Post New Topic". Type in what you wish to say in your message. Check back often to see if there have been any responses to your message.
2.To respond to a message click on the topic which will take you to the next page where you can either click on the words "Post New Reply" or the icon all the way to the right of the line of the topic. It really isn't too complicated and we're sure you'll get the hang of things without too many problems.
3.To chat just scroll down to the bottom where you will see Chat (# chatters) - Click on that link if you see a number inside the parenthesis. If there is a zero that means that there's no one chatting at the moment. You can always invite a friend to meet you here for a private chat.
(Hint - If you're using Internet Explorer you may have to make a temporary change to your settings in order to use the java chat applet - which is easy - go to tools, then internet options, then the general tab, under temporary internet click on settings and change the "check for newer versions of stored pages" to Every visit to the page. This setting can be changed back once you leave the chat area).
There are some really cool things we can do here with the chat area - perhaps arrange to have special topics discussed on certain specified days and times. We can even have more than one community, for example, one for friends, one for single parenting, one for certain issues - the options are really endless.
